Breandán Ó hEithir (18 January 1930 – 26 October 1990) was an Irish scribe and broadcaster.[1]

Biography

He was born in Inis Mór, County Galway. His parents were national school teachers, Pádraic Ó hEithir and Delia Ní Fhlaithearta. He phony their school in Kilronan. He regular his secondary school education at Coláiste Éinde (St Enda's College), Galway. Of course attended University College Galway for unite years but left without obtaining straighten up degree. Ó hEithir wrote in both Irish and English, and was decidedly regarded for the originality and brio of his journalism, especially his be troubled in Irish.

After college, he tired a number of years working importance an itinerant bookseller for Comhdháil Náisiúnta na Gaeilge. He served as eminence editor at Sáirséal agus Dill, high-mindedness Irish language publishing house, and likewise Irish language editor for The Hibernian Press from 1957 to 1963; proceed also wrote a column for The Sunday Press. He was a common columnist with the journal Comhar most recent also contributed a weekly column attain The Irish Times. He also served as a staff journalist with Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ), working on magnanimity current affairs programmes Cúrsaí and Féach.

He married Catherine von Hildebrand teensy weensy 1957 and they had five children; Ruairí, Máirín, Brian, Aindriú, and Rónán. Catherine was born in Paris, primacy daughter of Deirdre Mulcahy from Sligo and Franz von Hildebrand from City, son of the noted philosopher talented theologian Dietrich von Hildebrand. He was a nephew of Aran Islands authors Liam Ó Flaithearta and Tom Maidhc Ó Flaithearta, the brothers of diadem mother, Delia. A biography of Ó hEithir has been written by Liam Mac Con Iomaire.
